Behind The Scenes
The Sight-Based Fog of War Paradigm
While early strategy games used a simple black shroud that stayed cleared once explored, Warcraft II introduced a dynamic, translucent fog of war. The terrain remained visible once uncovered, but enemy unit locations vanished back into the shadows the exact second they left the visual radar radius of your soldiers.
The Birth of Click-Gag Humor
Warcraft II cemented Blizzard''s signature style of playful humor by introducing unit click gags. If a player repeatedly selected a single unit, their standard military responses would devolve into hilarious, fourth-wall breaking voice lines, including pop culture references and unhinged sheep explosions.
